Volunteering

Over 200 people volunteer for SCH contributing to an amazing 100 hours plus per week. They play a pivotal role and add great meaning to the Hospice experience in the interaction they have with the patient and their families/whanau.

What is a Volunteer

  • Hospice South Canterbury relies on volunteers for a variety of different tasks.

  • A volunteer Christmas party is held every year as a way to say thank you for all the help and support our volunteers give throughout the year.

Ways you could assist Hospice South Canterbury

  • Cooking: Assist in providing simple meals for the patients of the Hospice
  • Gardening: and flower arranging at the Hospice.
  • Newsletter: and mail out assistance
  • Fundraising (Events) assisting at Garage Sales, Street Appeal Collections, assisting with the Mid Winter Ball and Wine and Food Festival plus more...
  • Shop: Front of Shop, customer care, packing and cleaning, deliveries and pickups, Drivers
  • Therapy centre: provide friendly patient support, hand massage. Drivers.
